Data Collected By OpenAthens

OpenAthens is the authentication method that the library uses to allow off campus access to online library resources. Your account is automatically created for you by the university .

OpenAthens collects:

1. Your name
2. Your university email
3. Your department

EBSCO and OpenAthens

Due to our authentication method users automatically have a personal account folder where they can save content and citations to folders, save preferences, and generally personalize their research experience. To support personal accounts, EBSCO’s platform must retain some identifier to return the user to their account each time they log in.

Library users must consent to this form in order to use EBSCO databases off campus or have a personal folder on campus. When will users see this consent form:

1. When initially creating a personal user account.
2. When initially logging in using single sign-on credentials,

Does EBSCO share or sell retained data?
EBSCO works with affiliates and third parties to provide access to, manage, support, and improve upon our products and services. Retained data is shared with these entities to support those activities, but is not shared outside of this context. EBSCO does not sell personal data at any time or for any purpose.
