What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Simply defined, artificial Intelligence is technology that allows computers to mimic functions and tasks that have always required a level of human intelligence, judgment and decision-making. These functions include problem-solving, translation and interpretation of language and writing, and interactions with a changing environment (inputs, people) in a way that seems human-like, with perception and learning.
GPS guidance systems, autonomous vehicles, and different types of personal assistant bots on many websites that market products and information to us are examples of AI found in our daily experience.
The big picture goal of AI is the creation of machines and systems that exhibit intelligent behavior and adapt to various situations, interpreting the environment and inputs given in a faster, more machine-driven way.
What is Generative AI?
Generative AI tools use large language models that can comb through massive amounts of data and information and create new content that is similar to data it has reviewed, but is not a direct copy. Based on a user generated prompt, AI generative tools can create audio, images, music, computer code, and human language and writing that is surprisingly similar to human interpretation on a larger scale.
But is AI everything it promises to be?
