Welcome to the Physical Therapy Research Guide

Welcome Physical Therapy students!

This guide was made specifically for you! Use the tabs along the side of this guide to navigate between different types of resources for your research.

Remember there are librarians available to help you with locating materials or conducting research. The last tab on this guide will connect you to the library via online chat, email, phone or in person.

There are also Research Guides for other aspects of the DPT program, such as our Research Help and APA Help guides.

  • To find the research guide that covers a library topic, click here

  • To get quick answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the library and library research, go to the Jackson Library's FAQ page.

Grad Students Guide to the Library

  1. Get to know your librarians.
    •  The Librarians are available to help you one-on-one with your research, in-person, via phone, chat, or video conferencing software.
  2. Kick off your research by exploring the research guide for your program.
    • The guides are a gateway to research resources tailored to your needs. Great job, you are already on this guide and exploring it!
  3. Take advantage of longer check-out periods for library books.
    • IWU graduate students get an extended check-out period of 60 days. Renewals can be completed online through your library account.
  4. Use the IWU version of Google Scholar to quickly find articles.
    • Use Google Scholar from our databases link on the library home page. We've pre-structured  the link to give you immediate access to IWU's articles.
  5. Search smarter with the advanced filters of the IWU databases.
    • The super-charged filters allow you to limit search results by date, subject, publication type, and more.
  6. Use a citation tool to manage your lit review and create bibliographies in a snap.
    • Overwhelmed by keeping track of articles? Try Zotero, an online citation manager tool. Zotero enables you to create your own personal library of sources and creates citations for you.
  7. Use online library resources on or off campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • Remember that accessing library online information resources from off-campus requires you to sign-in.
