Tips for Using Ebscohost Ebooks
Searching
Use the advanced search, trying different terms and types of searches available from the dropdown menu to find relevant results.
A subject search is a very targeted search. Use the Library of Congress Subject Search to locate subject terms to use in Ebsco Ebook searches.
When searching for a specific phrase not found in a subject search, try a table of contents search.
A search of "All Text Fields" (the full text of the book) is best used as a last effort when more precise searches have failed to yield results.
When you locate a relevant book, view the subject terms in the detailed record for additional search ideas.
Functions
The full text of a book may be searched for terms or phrases using the search tool in the upper right panel of the text viewer. Click on the magnifying glass.
Printing or emailing a section of text is limited to 60 pages.
Tips for Using Ebook Central
Search the Library Catalog to Find Ebooks from Multiple Databases
Go to IWU's Advanced Catalog Search, enter a subject or keywords, and choose "Electronic Books" for the location.
A subject search returns very focused results. To find a subject term used in the IWU catalog, go to: Library of Congress Subject Search.
Or perform a keyword search, note the subject headings of any relevant items you find, and search again using one or more of those terms.
