From the MERGENT INTELLECT main page select Demographics which is located on the lower right hand side of the page.

 Enter business information and click "Competition" and then look for the Consumer Spending button above the map.

Online Resources

  • Explore Census Data -- Formerly American FactFinder
    Provides population, housing, economic, and geographic data from U.S. censuses and surveys. Also provides specific fact sheets for communities. Data is drawn from almost all data tables of the American Community Survey (ACS).
  • Consumer Expenditure Survey
    Information on the buying habits of America's consumers, including data on their expenditures, income, and consumer unit (families and single consumers) characteristics. The survey data are collected for the Bureau of Labor Statistics by the U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Population Census
    The U.S. Census Bureau conducts the decennial census, annual American Community Survey and Current Population Survey. This vast repository of data is used by governments, businesses, universities, researchers and others go gain insight into the make-up of the population. Subjects include age, sex, race, income, home ownership, language spoken, etc. Data can also be accessed through the American Fact Finder.
  • Economic Census
    The Economic Census is the major source of statistics for industries from the national to the local level. Taken every five years, with years ending in "2" and "7." Data can also be found using American Fact Finder to drill down to specific tables.
  • Statistical Abstract of the United States
    The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published from 1878 to 2012, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.
  • data.gov
    Home of all the U.S. Government's open data. Here you will find data, tools, and resources to conduct research, develop web and mobile applications, design data visualizations, and more.
  • United Nations' Demographic Yearbook
    Find statistics from over 230 nations regarding population size and composition, economic activity, educational attainment, household characteristics, housing, ethnicity, language, etc.
